Get to Know Essential Oils
If you've never used Essential Oils before it probably seems pretty strange that one tiny drop of something that comes from plants could support your body and brain in such a big way, but it's true! I'm excited to teach you about Essential Oils, and empower you to take better control of your own health and wellness. We'll also go over how you can get these powerful self-care tools into your home. |
What Are Essential Oils?
Essential Oils are aromatic compounds found in the roots, stems, leaves, bark, petals, seeds, or resin of plants. In their pure form, Essential Oils are highly concentrated, potent, and efficient. Ancient civilizations used Essential Oils for health care, and beauty products, as well as in food, and for religious ceremonies. We use them the same ways today. As people in our modern world search for natural solutions for better health, there's been a surge in popularity of Essential Oils and Essential Oils-based products. How Can We Use Essential Oils?
When we're talking about the quality of Essential Oils I use (more on why we need to be careful consumers when buying Essential Oils coming up in a little bit on this page), and am encouraging you to use, we can use them in three ways:
AROMATICALLY
Simply smell the Oil from the palm of your hand, a diffuser, a piece of aromatherapy jewelry, or straight from the bottle! Aromatherapy is a centuries-old practice with effective modern applications...it's great for mood management, to purify the air, and for creating an environment to spark energy and creativity, or relaxation and better quality sleep depending on the Oils you choose. I can't wait for you to smell Peppermint Essential Oil for the first time (Whew! Big-time energy boost)!
|
TOPICALLY
This is rubbing an Oil on the skin. Massage therapists love to include Essential Oils in their work. I use them for skincare. We can also use them topically to support a specific issue. If your stomach is bothering you, for example, you would rub a drop of DigestZen right on your belly. Sore calf muscles? You'd rub some Deep Blue on your legs. It's recommended that you dilute your Oils (I use a little Fractionated Coconut Oil for this) to help them go deeper and last longer, as well as to minimize the risk of any skin irritation.

INTERNALLY
We can use Essential Oils safely in this way when we're sure they're 100% pure and approved for internal use.
Using them internally allows us to trigger natural responses in our bodies that support overall health. On Guard internally gives a boost to our immune system, for example. You can add a drop to water, in a veggie capsule, or under your tongue. doTERRA also offers a variety of supplements infused with Essential Oils. A supplement called Tri-Ease helps with seasonal issues. Slim & Sassy supports metabolism and curbs cravings. I take the Lifelong Vitality pack for overall wellness. |

Non-Toxic Products
We are exposed to hundreds of toxins everyday before we even leave our home. The chemicals in our personal care products (skincare, toothpaste, deodorant, shampoo), as well as our household cleaners in many cases are known to cause negative health issues, but the $40 billion industry gets little oversight. We can tap into the natural power of Essential Oils to help reduce the toxic load we're taking on. You can clean and freshen your home, take care of your skin and hair, brush your teeth, pamper yourself, and more with natural, non-toxic Essential Oil-based products.
