Read about Take Care! Author Jennifer Antkowiak's caregiving story in her blog

"I am part of the 'sandwich generation', with one exception.  I take care of my kids, boys ages 5 and 10, my husband, (all healthy, Thank God!) AND my 91 year old grandmother.  After my mom died 4 years ago, I took over taking care of my grandmother.  She lives by herself in a senior apt, but I do all her shopping,
laundry, doctors appts, fill her RX box every week, etc.  We talk several times a
day and I go down to her place at least once a week.  She walks with a walker after
fracturing her hip 2 1/2 years ago and has a bit of dementia.  I am constantly
juggling  what I need to do for her and what I need to do for my kids and my own
household, plus part time work.  Even though I am exhausted and have NO time for
myself or for my husband, I wouldn't\'t trade it for the world.  My grandmother and I
are very close and  I consider myself lucky to have her to take care of.  Besides, my kids have their great-grandmother as part of their lives.  What a joy! "

"I am the caregiver for my parents who are 91 years old and will be married
73 years in July. They are still very much in love and want very much to stay
together in their condo and I am trying hard to keep them there. It is wonderful to
see how much they care for each other. They have medical problems but work together
to help each other out. They are opposites in many ways but have been together 73
years so it must be true that opposites really do attract! I am 69 years old and
sometimes it gets hard for me but I realize how fortunate I am to still have them."
